wolseley oil

i use sae30 in my other petrol engines, but as this WLB1 is 3 3/4 hp should i use something a bit better so the beast dont dehidrhate cheers

No it would only ever run on cheap oil.
I always use Morrisons oils they do a range for Vintage Engines and Steam

Thats all I use its great stuff, I buy all my Degreasers,penatrating oils ect from them they deliver to my door .

Get down to Asda

£3.99p for five litres Asda motor oil


Change it every season and you will have no problems

and as well as that steve, the asda's oil owing to its low price, is unlikely to contain the fancy detergent stuff for modern high performance engines, which means its rather good for our old engines.

ah not really ryan, consider your engine to be around 500cc (which it isnt but its a good guess) and it puts out 3hp or so, now imagine that engine as a 2.0 litre, 4 cylinder engine, thats 12hp, compared to the 120hp that about the minimum expected of a 2.0litre car engine now, and it gives you some idea of what conditions our oil puts up with compared to a car engine, that also incidentally runs 5-10times faster too.

i got to admit i probely will go for the morris SAE30

i used SAE30 in many engines and its always been proven to be good, may try the supermarket oil, in a spare engine i have, thanks for all the advice though Very Happy

Sounds like your mind is made up, but FWIW I always use Morris SAE30, yeah it's not cheap, but it comes in metal tins - looks the part!!! Laughing
