My engines

Post  Matth92 on Sun May 13, 2012 8:18 pm

Was having a dig around on the laptop and thought Id upload some photos of my current engines.

Ruston PT 1.5hp 1946, purchased last year as a non runner, but did get it going for a few minutes without too much fuss, but the frost damage turned out to be much worse than first thought, and on closer inspection it appeared the engine had been left full of water for quite a while, but this has all been cleaned out, frost damage has been repaired, just needs a set of rings, the new main bearings fitting into a Wolseley WD housing, as they are slightly different to Ruston bearings, but if a cut out is made in the housing for it to clear the timing gear housing, it will work fine, the thread on the end of the crank also needs attention.

Ex-Aerograph Villiers WX11, bought as a runner

now part of an alfa-laval milking set

1942 Fowler 1PAL

1958 Wolseley WD8, unusual petrol/paraffin version, bought as a non runner at the GDSF last year, got it back to the van, and put my NOS mag on it and away she went, will soon be getting the nasty paint took off and an oil change

Bernard WO, bought as a non runner for peanuts last year, got it running, but it smokes terribly, and main bearings are shot, also needs the broken radiator studs drilling out, now on a nicer trolley!

1937 International LA, before and after, she has gone nice and rusty now that nasty dulux has been taken off, was advertised as a runner but wasnt, have now overhauled the mag with a new coil and she starts and runs lovely now

1951 Petter W1VO 2HP, Purchased 2010 as a non runner but soon had her revving up

1946 Avon, purchased as a runner early 2011, has had a new trolley and other minor work though

Ruston PT 2hp, early villiers mag model, cracking little thing

Japy TY2, passed through my hands a few years back and I never got on with it, but now it has landed back, and apart from the carb being a bit dodgy, now I am a bit older and wiser (Older anyway!) I have got her running fairly well, just needs a trolley and end float took up on the mains

That is all tongue

my opinion is if you like the origional look is to leave the paint on them unless its nasty paint then give them a brush over in original color if not that bad just keave them .

Nice collection of engines and equipment you have matt. Where did you get the coil for your International LA coz I need to overhaul the mag on my LB and need parts for it.

Stu.
