Stu i am looking for something small that i can work on away from my workshop which is a few miles away.
i was looking for a villiers but this will do nicely, something i can practice getting really good paint finishing on and have a play in the evenings and weekends at home, also something i can lift onto a bench in the conservatory.

it needs to be cheap too. Laughing

Well it's been a day of mixed emotions today. I had a bit of spare time so I decided it was time to try and start up the JAP. I poured a bit of petrol into the tank and a drop down the plug hole for good measure. Second pull and she was away. No smoke, just running nicely except for a slight leak from the petrol tap.
All good then ??
Ah, that leak. I had sprayed the engine cover and tank with some red multi purpose paint that I had bought from Wilco's as it was a good colour match for the paint that the engine came with.
Let me advise you all now........ do not use paint that is not up to the job !!!! Twisted Evil

The paint just peeled off under the petrol. I have had to strip the tinware and the tank off and will now have to sand it all down again and repaint it GGRRRRRR.

I think a lot of us has done the same thing, we should just be patient and paint a small square let it dry for a few days then give it the fuel test. Save us all a lot of grief and hard work later.
