Hi to you all. I found this forum and thought that I should register and benefit from your accumulated wisdom. Smile I have been interested in mechanics for far too many years than I care to remember but until last year mainly restored cars and the like. With the cost of keeping a project car rising every year I decided to start restoring/collecting stationary engines.
I live in South Staffordshire in Central England. My collection to date consists of
Petter A1 (?1956)
2 x Briggs & Stratton ZZ (1943 & 1949)
2 x Briggs & Stratton 3hp driving Lister DEP6 Domestic pumps
Briggs & Stratton 3hp driving unknown water pump
Briggs & Stratton IL Generator set (1942
JAP Series 2A or 2B
JAP Unknown model
Villiers C28 (?Mk 25)
Suffolk 75G14 Type 24A

I know it's far too many but I just can't resist them. I'm well and truly hooked. I hope to do some of the rallies this year so maybe I'll meet up with some of you. DanBoy

To be honest, I am quite a fan of the Briggs engines (as my collection will testify). If the ZZ is a reasonable price I might be interested, just don't tell the wife. (LOL)

Thank you all for your warm welcomes. I have always been a bit of a hoarder as my three sheds will verify. I really do need to make a few tip runs lol! I am currently working on the B&S Generator unit and the Jap 2A. I have three trailers as well, one of which I use to hide the small engines from the wife. (She knows really, but doesn't say much as she looks forward to the rallies) The Petter and the ZZ are/were running and ready to show. The other ZZ, on the hand barrow, needs a bit of carb tinkering. The one B&S with Lister pump is now running whilst the other one is languishing waiting for a rebuild. I may even sell that one to make room for something to run off the Petter. I'll post up some pictures of progress as we go along.

Looking forward to seeing the pics. I've a B & S but I think mines to modern for shows. I don't know which model it is just it came of a hay elevator, it came in a job lot of engines and has sat at the back of the garage since then.

My 3hp B&S's are really quite modern, but they do divert the focus on to the pumps. The fuel tank on the IL was full of stale petrol which had turned to varnish and, at the moment, is not useable. I am spraying the tank off the JAP red to match the engine but I might temporarily use it on the IL generator, which is green! That should make for some interesting comments !!!

I've decided to paint my tank gold as it will go with both the green and the red. My other JAP is red and gold as well. Apart from which, I just happened to have a couple of cans of gold lying around. Laughing That grey definitely works on your engine Kev.
