national F type engine

Post  hob on Thu Oct 20, 2011 6:26 pm

just bought a National F type engine, seems to be quite rare as its the only one i can find on google

made in 1935 seems to be in good order, just needs the fuel system cleaned out and some cosmetic refurbishment.

collected it today, bigger than i thought Shocked but the car and trailer coped well on a 220 mile round trip Cool

old hob is very pleased with his new engine Cool Cool

that would be because its a top of the range 1.4 corsa 5 door Sri ............... the 1.0 and 1.2 are rated lower, the 1.0 is only a 3 cylinder engine and rather gutless Laughing

1.4 corsa specs .........see towing limit lower down

http://www.carpages.co.uk/guide/vauxhall/vauxhall-corsa-sri-1.4.asp

Towing Limit (braked) 1000 kg

Very nice engine Neville you must be very happy with it. I never even noticed it for sale an ebay, must say a bargin, I hope it's what you've learnt from us tight wads that's keeping you right Laughing Laughing Laughing
I had a look at the video and have to say that exhaust needs changing for something a little more suitable.
I don't want to tell you what to do but fines are very high for overloading more so with a large trailer your tempted to put a little more in, and the rallies we attend seem to attract the Police, Vosa, custom and excise so please be careful. It doesn't just go by what the book says it will pull it goes down to axle weights and trailer nose weight.

I didn't say it was wrong, just transporting engines they sometimes get knocked so put something else on more suitable to moving the engine about or remove it from travelling.

Very nice Neville, I like them but couldn't get an automatic in my price range. Are you going to use the back to sleep in? My sisiter-in-law and her hubby have a pick up with a top on the back and they sleep in there's on weekends. Very handy for rallies or collecting engines.
