Lister D head gasket

Post  Motorhead on Tue Aug 09, 2011 6:21 pm

Does anyone know the actual thickness of a Lister D copper head gasket? I would like to have a go a making one from scratch if I can get a piece of the right thickness.

Well I figured as the price for an off-the-peg gasket is £12.99 plus p&p and a piece of copper offcut big enough to make two or three could come to a similar price I would have a go at doing my own. Buying one I would learn nothing.

Sorry can't help as I've only one copper gasket and it looks as if it's been hit by a truck and is coming apart. All the other gaskets I've had for a D have been of the paper gasket type and I havn't anything to give an accurate measurement of one. I'd say no more then 2mm. The copper gasket I have is not just copper sheet but 2 sheets of very thin copper covering layers of gasket paper. Hope thats of help to you.

Stu.

My 'D' gasket is about an 1/8 " think. It has two outer thin sheet copper with a gasket material on the outside. Good luck in making your own,
Stephen
