silencer.

Post  earlsinclare on Mon Feb 14, 2011 6:12 pm

no that is not the correct silencer, it came from stationary engine parts for another project that never got going, original copies are available, maybe i'll find one at the shows in the summer. the silencer still lets the engine run quietly.

I'm not 100% sure but didn't it have the propper one on to start with? I know Fowlers had an exhaust like the one in the first picture as standard and I would have thought it was the right one.

i thought that too, and that it was just 90 degrees out of its normal orientation

Cheers.

Ah-ha! I was sort of right then, it should be a larger muffler type but on the vertical! Strange that as a lot of Fowlups have a horizontal exhaust!

the exhaust

Post  earlsinclare on Mon Feb 14, 2011 9:00 pm

the silencer in the first picture was home made from very heavy steel and i don't think it was baffled, the engine would not run how i wanted it too with that silencer so a smaller one was fitted until i can find a replacement one.
