Ruston Pb Ignition probs

Post  Statman on Sat Jan 30, 2010 6:16 pm

Hi Chaps!

Today i gave my PB6 a short run and it started absolutly fine no bother what so ever but the other day it was a swine to start.

Anyway id stopped the engine for a short while and started it again bugger wouldnt go so i belted it up to Johns little engine.....Any how it started up fine after that!

Then it ran out of fuel so i refilled and it wouldnt go unless you cranked hard then that didnt work so checked for a spark and nout or a little tiny one

Is this a condensor problem or a coil problem?

Thanks
Adam

Hi Steve!

Yeh from what i heard from enquiring about it most likely the coil!

Luckily i rung up Kerwin and he will supply a new coil for £30 which im chuffed about also i will change the condensor for a safe measure!

Hi Chaps!

Just got back from seeing Kerwins

The coil gave a fab reading the condensor was fine and the earthing was excellent too!

So we didnt know what was wrong we began to think about the magnatism but then i said about the points Kerwin said OH YEH! So he cleaned the points and the gap was out quite a bit so when it was sorted we checked the spark and hey presto fat blue spark and she was now a runner!

Best thing is it cost nout!!
