i only wanted to remove the sides for less weight, but have the chance of buying some 750kg axles so may keep the sides if i get these

Make the trailer so you can remove the sides, whilst transporting you can put all the other bits and pieces in the trailr rather than the car etc.

Then when you want a trailer for the tip run you can still do it without havingh 2 trailers.

Ryan,

I think I am right in saying that there is no law re sides on your trailer.

As long as the item you are carrying / towing is securly fixed and the trailer iteself complies i.e weight, brakes and lights etc.

cheers

Mart.

Brilliant, i can understand why people like sides, but i want to lose some weight, i got the trailer today, its better than what i thought, BUT they told me it could carry a ton, it probely could but i wont be doing it on 250kg axles, thats why i have just bought a set of 750kgs axles of ebay , going to collect them this week in st Austell Very Happy

car transporter trailers haven't got sides, so i don't think there will be a problem, as long as the lights, weight etc are adheared to like Martin said should be Okay geek

We had removable sides on ours as we incorporated the Ramps into the sides, plus a tarpaulin fits nicer Very Happy

neather do lowloaders, flatbeds, stepframes and any of those kind of trailers.

i think the law are more concerned with things like safety. ie lights, mud guards brakes (If over 750kg/3/4 ton) tow hitch device and of course snatch chain/wire, not to mention tires
