Re: Solex carb
Could it be a fibre washer gone? Or petrol tracking down the pipe caused by a leaky tap?

Re: Solex carb
the tap is not leaking the pipe is dry. the end of the pipe that fits to the carb has had new washers (red cardboardy things) and there is no visible leak. it appears to be coming out of the join were the bowl meets the top bit.

Re: Solex carb
Was going to say try flattening off the carb joints and some new gaskets.

Sounds like the float needle isn't shuting the fuel off when the carb is full, if that is the case, undo the two screws on the top, above the float there is a little needle that fits into a brass nut like bit, give this a twist, grinding paste might help then clean everything up and re assemble.
